The goal of the Conservation Planting Trailer is to assist groups and organizations in restoring the region’s riparian buffers and other environmentally sensitive areas by loaning them the necessary to
ols and equipment to plant native trees, shrubs, and flowers. These efforts will also help improve water quality in streams, ponds, and wetlands. It will also create beneficial habitat for wildlife and aquatic life.
A common problem facing community conservation groups is not having the right tools, or not enough of them, to prepare the sites and do the planting. The Southeastern PA Resource Conservation and Development Council Conservation Planting Trailer will provide groups with the shovels, rakes, planting bars, augers, pruners, etc. necessary to do projects in the Southeastern Pennsylvania Counties of Berks, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Lehigh, Montgomery, and Northampton. With the right tools provided, more buffers will be restored, a greater number of plants will be planted, fewer tools will be broken from misuse, and volunteers will be safer.
The Conservation Planting Trailer is an innovative conservation project, to best of our knowledge; no similar trailer exists in Southeastern Pennsylvania or possibly in the state.

jor goals of the project are:
- Increase environmental restoration and community plantings in the region
- Increase the number of volunteers who participate in planting projects
- Provide volunteers with safe and proper tools
Three expected outcomes of the project are:
- More of the region’s riparian buffers and environmentally sensitive areas will be stabilized and restored
- People will feel better by investing their time and energy to protect and improve their community and the region’s natural resources
- Other groups, organizations, businesses, and agencies will be inspired to donate for environmental restoration projects because of the availability of the conservation trailer
This project will help meet several of the goals listed in Pennsylvania’s Nonpoint Source Management Program Update and the Watershed Restoration Action Strategy for the State Water Plan.

Ursinus College students will be doing riparian buffer improvement on open space owned by Collegeville Borough. The buffer repair is part of a Stewardship Plan prepared by Ursinus College for Collegeville on open space called Hunsberger Woods. The project is scheduled for Sunday, April 15, trailer would be a great help.

Actually in 2009 Lower Merion Township used DCED funds to purchase and outfit the Cynwyd Heritage TrailER to assit volunteers in developing trails and open spaces throughout the Township. The trailer is stocked with hand and power tools, gloves, tables and first aid kits…everything that volunteers need to succeed. Last year the trailer was part of a session at the state parks and recreation conference in Valley Forge. Our trailers should get together sometime and swap stories.

Joanne can Yeadon Borough reserve the trailer for 2 dates March 31st and April 21st the first date is for a huge clean up along the Cobbs Creek at Mount Moriah Cemetery and the second date is for tree plantings at our Libary.
Steve, Thank you for asking. Unfortunately the trailer is already scheduled to go to another location on April 21st. We have had many request for that date as you can imagine. I will reserve March 31st for Yeadon Borough. You will be able to pick up the trailer at the Delaware County Conservation District Office.
